According to British intelligence, Russia is preparing “regional elections” in the occupied territories of Ukraine to justify the fact of their capture.

This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense on Twitter.

“This follows ongoing efforts to ‘Russify’ the occupied territories, which include overhauling education, communications and transportation systems,” the latest report says.

They remind that on February 1, the head of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, said that preparations for the “elections” were already underway. They are scheduled for September 10, the single day of voting in the Russian Federation.

As Strana wrote, at the end of September last year, the head of the European Council said that the EU would never recognize “referendums” and Russia’s illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories.

The UN General Assembly also condemned the “referenda” held by Russia last year.

Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine continues for the 348th day. We follow the news on February 6 in our online.
